Sarah Lesch, a certified yoga instructor will lead this yoga and paddleboard class. Stand-up Paddleboarding is a wonderful adventure and a great chance to get out on the water, taking our yoga off the mat and onto the beach. We are utilizing both our core strength and increasing our ability to balance. We start off on the beach, warming up with a half-hour yoga and meditation practice, then we paddle for half an hour finishing up with a 15 minute cool down and stretch. 8:30 am Beat Cancer With A Paddle's 5th Annual Sweetwater Paddle For The Cure
Beat Cancer With a Paddle is once again proud to sponsor the 5th Annual Sweetwater Paddle for the Cure Sunday May 5, 2013. Set against the skyline of beautiful downtown Tampa the paddling event of the season is back and better then ever. The event will feature a 5 mile race and and 2 mile family fun paddle for kayaks and standup paddleboards in separate catagories. Rental kayaks and Boards will be available. All proceeds will benefit the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation and Be The Match National Bone Marrow Registry. The MMRF has been on the forefront of research and development of drugs to fight Multiple Myeloma and other cancers. Be The Match maintains the Nation Bone Marrow Registy and connects patients with their donor match for life saving bone marrow transplants. Ocean Minded 4-Mile Open RaceTo be honest, we are going to watch the tidal conditions very closely the days before the race and then determine the most enjoyable 4-Mile course starting from Smathers Beach. But it will probably look something like a triangle in the following direction:
Race DivisionsThe Key West Paddleboard Classic is an all-inclusive, diverse event for all paddlers. Join us for the return of the championship paddleboard racing in tampa bay. This race will highlight the best paddling conditions in florida. the race will challenge participants in the gulf and the intercoastal waters. there will be races for the elite paddlers, recreational enthusiasts, and kids. as a championship event with a prize purse, it will draw contestants from across the united states. This is the Championship Race for the Gulf Coast. The Bilmar Beach Resort is an elite vacation resort on the Gulf Coast of Florida on Treasure Island. Weedon Island is a beautiful preserve close to downtown Tampa where you can observe lots of marine life (dolphins, manatee), birds etc. We meet at the south paddling launch.
